I am currently a news writer and features contributor for NME Australia, a music writer and editorial consultant for MTV Australia, and have bylines in Junkee, Crikey, Beat Magazineand Tone Deaf. Previously, I interned for The Age, The Canberra Times and Canberra Weekly.
Work experience.
News and Feature Writer for NME Australia 2020-
- Sourcing and writing 5-7 news stories a day on local music, film and culture
- Written two cover stories in digital and print as well as scouting new artists to profile for New Music Monday
- Conducting video interviews with artists on the ground at music festivals
- Posting to CMS and Twitter, using WordPress and Hootsuite respectively
- Liaising with HQ in Singapore, subbing fellow freelancers’ work.
Music Writer and Editorial Consultant for MTV Australia 2020-
- Designing content strategy for MTV’s music vertical
- Producing a diverse range of longform music features, including artist interviews and essays
- Write a weekly roundup of Australian music news, reading the news cycle

- Worked remotely from Melbourne, building strong working relationships with editorial staff through Slack

- Successfully pitched article and photo ideas on a variety of topics, one of which was preview-printed on the front page
- Worked on a rigorous fact check about Australia Day celebrations which involved calling every single Melbourne council

- Assisted with 2020 ACT Election coverage working remotely from Melbourne
- Combed through daily press releases from major political parties, identified potential fact checks, and pitched stories around them
